Plain English, and it means what it says. Using this site means you agree to all of it.
1. Independent and unaffiliated
GP Carpool (gpcarpool.com) is an independent, volunteer, resident-run tool. It is not operated, sponsored, endorsed, reviewed, or approved by the Grosse Pointe Public School System (GPPSS), Grosse Pointe South High School, Grosse Pointe North High School, or any other GPPSS school, board, employee, or affiliate. Nothing on this site should be read as a district program, district communication, or district endorsement.
2. No screening or verification
This site does not screen, verify, vet, or background-check any user, driver, rider, or vehicle. It does not check driver's licenses, driving records, insurance coverage, vehicle condition, child restraints, criminal history, or any other qualification. Listings are self-reported by users and are not reviewed for accuracy.
3. You are responsible for your own checking
You are solely responsible for verifying the identity, driver's license, insurance, vehicle, and general fitness to drive of any person you arrange a ride with, and for deciding whether any arrangement is appropriate for you and your children. Do your own due diligence before, and on an ongoing basis after, any ride arrangement begins.
4. Not a party to any ride
The site operator is not a party to any ride arrangement made through or in connection with this site, is not a transportation provider, broker, or agent, and does not schedule, supervise, insure, or guarantee any ride. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site operator is not liable for any injury, loss, damage, delay, or dispute arising out of any contact, arrangement, or ride connected to this site.
5. Voluntary use, at your own risk
Use of this site is entirely voluntary and at your own risk. The site is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind, and may be changed, paused, or taken down at any time.
6. Non-commercial
This site is non-commercial. It processes no payments and collects no fees or commissions of any kind. Do not use it to advertise a paid driving service.
7. What we show publicly
Listings publicly show your first name, last initial, general area, school(s), days and times, and any notes you write. Your phone number is shown only if you check the box opting it into public visibility, and you can turn that off. Never post your exact address, your child's full name, or other details you don't want public.
8. Acceptable use
Post accurate information, keep your listings current, mark them filled when they're done, and treat neighbors decently. Listings that are commercial, harassing, deceptive, or unsafe may be removed. Reports go to a resident volunteer, and there is no guaranteed review time.
