Post what you've got or what you need
Drivers list a drop-off area, the schools they pass, open seats, and a simple pattern like “Mon–Fri mornings.” Riders list the same thing minus seats, plus how many kids.
Browse the board
Filter by school, area, and days. You'll see first name and last initial only — no addresses, no exact locations.
Call or text
If the poster chose to show their number, you'll see it when you open their listing and you're signed in. Numbers never show in the list or to signed-out visitors. Everything after that — timing, car seats, backup plans, who drives which day — happens between the two of you.
Mark it filled
When a post is done, flip it to filled from My posts so the board stays honest and nobody calls about a seat that's gone.
When it's today
Flat tire, late meeting, sick sitter — mark your request as a same-day ride and add the time your kid needs to be there. Same-day requests sit in their own section at the top of the homepage and drop off on their own at the end of the day, so nothing goes stale. Drivers who pick schools under Ride alerts get a small count badge on the GP Carpool icon when a same-day request comes in for one of those schools — and the same count shows right next to "Ride alerts" in the menu here in the app, so you can spot it either way. On an iPhone the icon badge only works once you've added GP Carpool to your home screen. The homepage section always works too. Text-message alerts for same-day requests aren't part of the site yet — that's something that might come in a future update.
Staying safe — this part is on you
This site does no screening of any kind. There is no background check, no license check, no insurance check, and no vetting of any driver or rider. Treat every listing as a stranger's flyer on a bulletin board until you've done your own checking.
- • Talk on the phone, then meet in person before any ride happens.
- • Ask to see a driver's license and proof of current insurance. It's a normal ask.
- • Ask how many kids are in the car, what seats or boosters are used, and who else drives.
- • Ask around — in a town this size, somebody you know probably knows them.
- • Agree on a backup plan for sick days, late days, and snow days before you need one.
- • Keep your address off the listing. Share it in the phone call, not on the board.
- • Trust your gut. There's no obligation to explain a no.

Read this first — who runs GP Carpool
This is a neighbor-to-neighbor bulletin board put together by a Grosse Pointe resident. It is independent and volunteer-run, and it is not affiliated with, operated by, sponsored by, or endorsed by the Grosse Pointe Public School System, Grosse Pointe South, Grosse Pointe North, or any other GPPSS school. Nobody at the district has anything to do with it.
- • We don't schedule rides, take money, or run any kind of logistics.
- • We don't screen, verify, or background-check anyone. No license, insurance, or driving record is checked.
- • You post what you can do or what you need, you find each other, and the rest happens by phone between the two of you.
- • Your phone number stays hidden unless you check the box to show it.
